Your Orethis Motion wrap is designed for either ankle. It works on both left and right, though some customers find it fits slightly more naturally on the left ankle. Both are fine—wear it wherever you need support.
Before You Start
What You Need
- Clean, dry feet/ankles
- 2 minutes of time
- Nothing else
STEP 1: Position the Wrap
1Place the ankle brace flat and center it under your foot.
- Sit down or stand with your foot flat on the ground
- Lay the wrap flat beneath your foot
- Center the wrap so it sits evenly under your ankle
The wrap should be centered with the outer (logo) side facing up.
STEP 2: Attach the Base
2Attach the non-logo side to the ankle. Adjust the position as needed.
- Take the non-logo side of the wrap
- Press it firmly against the inside/back of your ankle
- Adjust the position until it feels comfortable and centered on your ankle bone
- The wrap should sit snugly but not pinching
This is the foundation. Getting this right makes the next step easier.
STEP 3: Secure the Closure
3Pull the side with the logo across and attach it to the other side.
- Take the logo side of the wrap
- Pull it across your ankle firmly
- Press it onto the non-logo side using the Velcro
- The Velcro should grip securely with no gaps
What does "attach" mean? It means pressing the hook-and-loop (Velcro) together. No glue or adhesive—just secure the Velcro for a strong hold.
STEP 4: Adjust for Comfort
4Adjust the tightness and position to your comfort and support needs.
- Check that the wrap is snug but not cutting off circulation
- You should be able to slide one finger under the wrap comfortably
- Adjust the Velcro position if needed to get the right fit
- The wrap should feel stable, not loose or overly tight
The One-Finger Test
Before you move, verify your fit:
- Slide one finger under the wrap at the Velcro line
- You should fit exactly one finger—no more, no less
- If you can fit more, it's too loose
- If you can't fit one, it's too tight
Shoe Compatibility
Best Shoes for Orethis Motion
✓ Running shoes (designed for this)
✓ Basketball/court shoes (excellent fit)
✓ Hiking boots (if laced loose enough)
✓ Work boots (if properly fitted)
✓ Casual sneakers (most work perfectly)
Shoes to Avoid Initially
✗ Sandals/flip-flops (no support structure)
✗ Dress shoes (too tight for wrap)
✗ Very tight shoes (wrap won't fit comfortably)
Pro Tip
If your shoes feel slightly tight with the wrap, loosen the shoe laces for the first few days while you adjust. Most customers find their normal shoes work perfectly after a few days.
Fit Troubleshooting
Prevention: Don't wear overly loose socks. Wear properly fitting athletic shoes. Check your fit before activity starts.
Note: Tightness reduces circulation. Support comes from positioning, not crushing tightness.
Note: Minor rubbing is normal the first 2-3 days. If irritation persists beyond one week, contact support.
Note: First 1-2 days, support feels subtle. By day 3, your body recognizes and trusts it.
Daily Wearing Schedule
Day 1-2: Getting Used to It
Wear during normal activity (walking, light tasks) for 4-6 hours per day. Let your brain and skin adjust.
Day 3-7: Building Confidence
Wear during normal daily activities. Gradually increase to 8-10 hours per day. Do normal movements (stairs, walking, light activities).
Week 2+: Ready for Activity
Wear during your sport or activity. Comfortable wearing 10-12 hours per day. Use as needed.
Long-Term
Most people wear during their sport/activity. Many wear during regular daily life. Some remove on complete rest days. This is your choice. The wrap works whenever you wear it.
